Residents report excessive truck speed on Harrisburg Street and construction runoff entering the creek after rain events. Appears to be related to a PennDOT bridge project. Multiple residents have documented trucks exceeding speed limits and muddy discharge into waterway.
Resident asks:
Speed enforcement during construction, runoff mitigation measures, public update from PennDOT on project timeline and completion date
Borough council can contact or pressure another entity but cannot directly fix this.

The issue concerns excessive truck traffic and runoff entering the creek near Harrisburg Street, which residents attribute to a PennDOT bridge project. As of May 14, 2026, the issue has been referred to PennDOT District 8-0 for further information and mitigation requests. An official has contacted PennDOT for updates on the project timeline, expected truck traffic duration, and measures to address runoff and speed enforcement. The borough police have also been asked to monitor speed during peak construction hours. Further action is pending based on PennDOT's response, and the matter will be discussed at the June 3 council meeting.
I have contacted PennDOT District 8-0 to request a written update on the bridge project timeline, expected truck traffic duration, and what mitigation measures are in place for runoff and speed. I have also requested that borough police conduct speed enforcement on Harrisburg Street during peak construction hours. I will update this issue when PennDOT responds. This item has been added to the June 3 council meeting agenda.
